DIY Bird – Cross Stitch

DIY Bird – Cross Stitch

Hello! Happy new year to all of the viewers here!

I am so glad to be back and created another project that I’d love to share with you. It’s cross stitching! I just recently did it for the very first time and it’s really fun. I myself did this piece for 2 days, isn’t it strange? or is it normal? Please let me know if you are an experienced cross stitcher 😀

As soon as I tried cross stitching for the first time, I knew that making the pattern will be more fun and challenging. I planned to make it simple but beautiful. So, here is the pattern of a little bird on a branch.

When you finish this piece, you will notice how pretty the combination of gray colors on one frame. It would be perfect for wall decoration and any of your project.

I hope you enjoy the pattern!

DIY White Rat Plush

DIY White Rat Plush

As an asian, I do celebrate Chinese New Year. It’s a big family gathering like people do on Thanksgiving day. The most awaited moment is when married couples give me hóngbāo or red envelope. It’s not an ordinary envelope because it is filled with money HEHE.  phew . . one of the perks being single, am I right? :p

2020 is the year of rat and even though I do not believe in any Chinese zodiac and its superstition, it’s always fun to make something each year related to the assigned animal. So, today I have something very special to share with you, which is a white rat plush. It’s super adorable and fun sewing project to do.

I got some comments from my previous sewing projects. They said that it’s too difficult for a newbie to learn this kind of sewing project. So, to make you clear, I share this tutorial for you who are familiar with basic sewing skill and encourage you to join me to create something different and adorable. So, I am sorry if it’s not meant for a newbie but if you are a newbie and have a great interest at this, join me to make it!

Without further do, let’s make it together!

DIY Dragon Plush

DIY Dragon Plush

Hello! I am back for a new and free pattern. At this time, I want to share how to make this adorable not-so-like a dragon plush. This dragon plush is perfect for Birthday, Mother’s day, and any special day. Moreover, it’s also a gorgeous toy for a baby and you can use safer material for this purpose.

Let me share a little story behind this adorable creature. Whenever I made my plushes, I usually did some trial until I got the perfect pattern for the final result. However, for this dragon plush, I directly made it without any trial with hope that it can at least be good. I noticed something, which is not that perfect for this pattern but I am too lazy to found the culprit behind it. And, I think my dragon plush is still acceptable, isn’t it? haha.

I am very open for any modification on this pattern. It’s up to you to modify and find what suits the most to your liking. Here I am trying to show you how to make it from scratch with hope you get the basic idea. Without further do, let’s make it!

The finished elephant plush is approximately 4.7 inch when standing up. Please resize the pattern as you wish if you want to make bigger plush than the original size I made. The skill level is opened for anyone but recommended for those who are familiar with basic sewing skills. The only stitches I used throughout the process are back, ladder and running stitches. These stitches can be learnt on Youtube, it’s very easy.

DIY Piggy Plush

DIY Piggy Plush

This simple pig plush toy is really easy and fun to make. I made this adorable plush for my friend’s newborn baby. It suits the whole thing about newborn baby especially if the it is a girl. I made the pig plush with minky fabric, it is very soft like baby’s butt :p

Let’s learn how to make it from scratch! I will happily guide you. Without further do, let’s keep reading!

Tools & Materials

  • minky fabric (soft pink)

  • pen

  • sewing thread (black and soft pink)

  • needle

  • toy stuffing

  • scissor

  • 5mm plastic eyes

  • 2 seed beads (dark colours)

Intructions

  1. trace the pattern on the minky fabric. Give a space for each piece because you need to add the seam allowances.

  2. add ~0.5 cm seam allowances for each piece and cut it.  (illustration 1 & 2)

  3. let’s start with the body firstly (see the illustration number 3). Start sewing the body with the back stitches along the red dashed lines. When you’re about to finish, turn it inside out and stuffed it with toy stuffing. Lastly, you can close the seam with the ladder or invisible stitches.

  4. let’s sew the arms and ears as shown in the illustration 4. For both parts, you don’t need to stuff it with any toy stuffing.

  5. For the head, let’s begin by sewing along the red dashed line in the illustration 5. Then, you can insert the ears in between the pieces of head and sew along with back stitches like usual. When you’re about to finish, turn it inside out.

  6. You can start stuffing the head with the toy stuffing. Then, let’s attach the nose on the face with ladder stitches as shown in the illustration 5. When you’re about to close the seam, stuff it with little toy stuffing to make a piggy nose. For the nostrils, you can attach it using 2 seed beads, black sewing thread and needle. Lastly, close the seam with the ladder stitches.

  7. When everything is done, you can start attaching the eyes with the black thread and sewing needle. Then, close the seam with ladder stitches. (see illustration 6)

  8. Lastly, you can assemble the head and body using the ladder stitches. Don’t forget to sew it back and front.

  9. For the arms, you can start attaching it on the body using ladder stitches.

  10. Voila! There you go! 🙂

DIY Dachshund

DIY Dachshund

Are you interested at making stuffed dolls but you don’t have any idea how to make it? You come to the right place because I will share the stuffed dog plush tutorial that you can do it at home.

The fabric I used is minky fabric. It’s an easy fabric to find at store and it’s relatively not expensive. You can also use another fabric. I suggest you to use stretchable fabric.

It’s Dachshund, the dog plush I made. I once had a Dachshund and she reminds and inspires me to make her. I wish to adopt another Dachshund in the future if I have a fixed place to stay. For those of you who love dog like I do, it’s a great tutorial to make this dog plush. It’s also a great gift for your loved ones. I am pretty sure everyone will love this cute thing.

It took me 3 hours to complete the whole thing. It is quite long compared to my teddy bear plush because it’s more complicated. Having basic sewing skill will definitely help to understand this tutorial better. For those of you who never sew before, it’s also possible to make this stuffed dog plush but you need to get familiar with the stitches I used throughout the process, which are back and ladder stitches.
